Fit Reading
Reading instruction is a cornerstone of education, yet many approaches have led to insufficient outcomes, with 63% of American high school graduates below reading proficiency. Additionally, 15-20% of the population is affected by dyslexia, underscoring the urgent need for effective solutions. While movements like “The Science of Reading” have evolved to address what should be taught, they often overlook how to teach reading to fluency.

What our Learners are Saying
My son, Isaak, has been with Fit Learning (in Orange County) for a year now and it’s been fabulous. They have been so instrumental in helping my son learn his... read more letters, sounds, and sight words. They’ve worked on many other things as well. He’s so close to reading too. I love how Fit Learning breaks the programs down to small programs to also help show accomplishment. They have an incredible system to reward the kids too with earning points all through the time of tutoring, and they even find gifts the kids can earn that they’d be interested in. My son just tells them what he likes and they find a way for him to earn it. He was beyond excited today when he turned in his points for this large gummy hamburger he asked for. This is what keeps my son excited about learning and continuing to want to go to tutoring. The staff is wonderful and so patient, especially with those with special needs. Fit Learning continues to offer accommodations to help Isaak learn. I love too how this company is founded by a very knowledgable BCBA, which is very skilled in analyzing behaviors and how to appropriately respond to those behaviors to help the child learn when they are there. Best facility ever and I highly recommend them to anyone. I love how well they communicate with quarterly (I believe they’re quarterly 😝) progress meetings even showing recordings of working and showing the progress from before. This really helps me see the progress and always leaves me speechless with how well my son is doing. He struggles alot in school and really benefits with this one on one tutoring.

My son was very apprehensive going into the assessment last week, but when I picked him up he said he had a great time and that he can’t wait to... read more start the program! I have considered enrolling him in FIT for some time now. I have attempted many different methods but all roads have led us back to FIT. After reviewing my son’s assessments with Dr. Julie I know this is the right decision. Dr. Julie picked up on other areas of concern that weren’t obvious to me but factor into my son’s school struggles. We are very excited to get started and we are very grateful to have a FIT location here in OC!

My son has been with Fit (OC) for a yr now for help with reading. Initially, he wasn't too excited about participating in a program after a long day at... read more school, when already that was a struggle. To be honest, he felt it was a punishment. In the beginning, there were a lot of complaints about going, but the rewards system in place started to silence those complaints. (FIT is very flexible with what can be earned, and it is geared to each learners interests to keep them motivated. And it works!) Then, he realized he was actually learning and improving and having fun in the process. During the course of the year, I could see him becoming more confident and more willing to read. Now there are no complaints, and there are even times when he doesn't want to leave! Julie and her team are great and have so much patience for his silliness and that is truly appreciated! And the data reports allow me to see how he's progressing from initial assessment and not just guess at how he's doing. Overall, it has been a great and beneficial experience and I would definitely recommend FIT to others.
